Register Now for the Photonex Event

This year’s Photonex event is all about getting together with suppliers of photonics technologies, networking with colleagues, and attending educational seminars. There are enormous benefits in the use of photonics in aerospace, whether this is for energy efficiency (LED illumination for example), advanced sensing, materials testing, monitoring or imaging, the list of applications seems endless.

Photonics is an enabling technology and there is no better place to investigate the availability of photonics solutions than at Photonex.
Visitor Attractions
See microdrone fly overhead at the exhibition
Photonex is designed to be an opportunity to see live demonstrations and this year is no exception. Here’s a great example of photonics ‘at work’ - MORE DETAILS

MW Power Systems will be exhibiting at Photonex on stand B31.

Airborne hyperspectral imaging sensing solutions for remote sensing
Specim's latest range of Hyperspectral Imaging systems covers the UV / VIS / VNIR / SWIR / MIR and the latest cameras now cover the LWIR. All SPECIM hyperspectral products employ our proprietary push-broom imaging technology. Push-broom imaging provides highest performance and flexibility among various hyperspectral imaging techniques. Its major advantages are; highest imaging speed and/or lowest heat load from illumination on the sample/target. Specim's AISA family of airborne hyperspectral sensors provides market leading solutions for remote sensing, from small UAV systems to full featured commercial, research and military remote sensing tools - MORE DETAILS

Gilden Photonics Ltd are the UK distributor for Specim and will be exhibiting at Photonex'09 on stand A30.

Health assessment of fiber optic aviation networks and composite structures

Luna’s Optical Backscatter Reflectometer (OBR) is a diagnostic and troubleshooting tool to provide health assessment of fiber optic aviation networks and composite structures. With Luna’s technology, one can detect and localize avionics problems, such as bends, breaks, bad splices and poor connections with up to 10 micron spatial resolution with zero dead zone. In addition to fault location and loss measurement, the device can provide distributed temperature and strain measurements. Luna's easy-to-use OBR 4400 instrument can also quickly detect and locate faults (fractures, cracks or delaminations) over 70 meters of length - VISIT WEBSITE

Lambda Photometrics Ltd are the UK Distributor for Luna and will be exhibiting at Photonex on stand C09.

Intelligent LED Lighting for Aircraft Interiors
The current generation of LEDs enables flexible, controllable solid state lighting systems to bring mood lighting to aircraft interiors. LED lighting offers significant benefits via reduced power consumption, heat dissipation, EMC, and unit size compared to more established lighting technologies. The huge colour palette provided by LEDs, combined with intelligent colour sensing technologies and state of the art control techniques, means the real challenge of not only providing a full range of colours but more importantly holding them consistently along the length of a cabin over life can now be achieved. Thermal management is key to maximising lifetime and performance of LED lighting, together with the intelligent application of light and colour sensing technology - MORE DETAILS

Pacer will be exhibiting at Photonex on stand D22.

Many more products can be seen on the stands of the 100+ exhibitors, see the exhibitors list - HERE

Supporting the sensing supply chain
The Sensors & Instrumentation KTN helps to develop and support the sensing supply chain for industry, and connects companies to the best international research. It raises awareness of emerging sensor technologies and represents the sensing community at the highest levels of government. Meet SIKTN representatives at Photonex where they have a stand and attend their seminar programme (it’s free to attend) which focuses on how photonics can solve problems and includes recent new applications for photonics: “Solving sensing problems with photonics” - MORE DETAILS

EPIC offers attendance allowance
The Scottish Chapter of the Photonics Society (formerly IEEE) in association with EPIC (European Industries Industry Consortium), the Institution of Engineering & Technology and Brighter.EU have announced their speaker programme for the ‘High Power Diode Lasers & Systems” meeting - MORE DETAILS

EPIC is offering financial support, 'travel and attendance package' for staff of their membership at this meeting - MORE DETAILS

KEYNOTE ADDRESS will be by Dr Klaus Ertel of Rutherford Appleton Laboratory giving a presentation titled: "HiPER and ELI: multi-kilojoule-class DPSSLs for laser fusion and ultra high intensity research" - SEE ADVERT FOR RAL

Where is Photonex held
Situated once again at Stoneleigh Park, Coventry, on the 14th-15th October 2009, entrance to Photonex is completely free of charge.
