PPE KTN raises its profile at next week's Photonex event

This year’s Photonex event is all about getting together with suppliers of photonics technologies - technologies that can save energy, solve problems and improve your process efficiency.

At the exhibition you can..
Find out just what makes a company tick and exactly what they can do for you.  But the best thing of all is that an event such as Photonex is perfect for building your network of contacts and for investigating new technologies that might assist you in your work.

Meet the PPEKTN and SI KTN on stand Innov01.

At meetings you can..
Investigate new developments and meet with experts in their field.

Here is a summary of just some of the meetings being held at Photonex:

Solving Sensing Problems with Photonics
Date: Wednesday 14th October 2009

Meeting organisers; Dr Robert Angus, SI KTN and Dr Steve Welch, PPE KTN.

Sessions are titled: Intelligent Transport, Secure World and Quality of Life and will highlight how photonics is involved in solving sensing problems in a diverse range of applications - VIEW PROGRAMME

High Power Diode Lasers & Systems
Date: Wednesday 14th October 2009

Meeting Organiser: Prof John Marsh, Scottish Chapter of the Photonics Society (formerly IEEE)

This event will highlight the latest advances in diode pumped solid-state lasers covering topics from the advanced and novel laser pump diodes through to the research and industrial issues - VIEW PROGRAMME

KEYNOTE ADDRESS will be by Dr Klaus Ertel of Rutherford Appleton Laboratory giving a presentation titled: "HiPER and ELI: multi-kilojoule-class DPSSLs for laser fusion and ultra high intensity research".

Ultra-Efficient Lighting: Technology and Applications
Date: Thursday 15th October 2009

Meeting Organiser: Dr Gareth Jones, Consultant on Ultra-Efficient Lighting for PPE KTN.

This programme covers the essential technologies which make up ultra efficient lighting and explores new applications which are enabled by these technologies. The combination should provide a broad coverage of this exciting new era in lighting - VIEW PROGRAMME

Photovoltaics
Date: Thursday 15th October 2009

Meeting Organiser: Dr Michael Robertson, CIP Technologies for the PPE KTN.

With the expected UK Government introduction of "feed-in tariffs" next April, this is a very exciting time for Photovoltaics in the UK. This programme introduces the technology and provides an overview of photovoltaics research in the UK. It will highlight a number of new solar technologies now being made into products and how these are being used in buildings to provide free electricity. It explains why solar cell technologies and solar cell systems are core for reducing the UK’s ‘Carbon footprint’ - VIEW PROGRAMME

EPIC offers attendance allowance
The Scottish Chapter of the Photonics Society (formerly IEEE) in association with EPIC, the IET and Brighter.EU have announced their oral speaker programme will be followed by an evening poster session. This will start at 6.15pm (after the Executive Panel Discussion) and take place within the exhibition hall. It will be an ideal opportunity for visitors to continue networking in an informal environment - MORE DETAILS

Meeting Sponsor EPIC is offering financial support, 'travel and attendance package' for staff of their EPIC corporate membership.
